Press Release • August 8, 2018
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — August 8, 2018 – Alation Inc., the data intelligence company, today announced the launch of Alation Accelerate, a training program developed in partnership with Eckerson Group and focused on enterprise-wide data catalog adoption. Alation Accelerate includes courses by Eckerson Group’s Wayne Eckerson, founder and principal consultant, and Dave Wells, practice director, data management, who bring more than 30 years of experience in enterprise-wide data and analytics deployments.
Alation Accelerate is focused on delivering training for data and analytics leaders that are rolling out data catalog initiatives. The coursework offers guidance on how to set an organization up for successful adoption of a data catalog. This includes the organizational changes, people and processes that go beyond software installation to ensure the successful deployment of enterprise-wide data catalog initiatives.
“In today’s challenging data management landscape, the value of data catalogs is growing for a continuum of users, from business and data analysts all the way up to C-level executives,” said Wells. “Analysts lack visibility into the datasets that exist, the contents of those datasets and the quality and usefulness of each, affecting not only individual analysis but also the overall success of data initiatives. Data catalogs provide the framework for successful, organization-wide self-service analytics.”
Alation customers who sign a software contract with Alation before November 2018 will receive one day of free training provided by the Eckerson Group through the Alation Accelerate program. Alation Accelerate compliments Alation’s standard software implementation program, Alation Rapid Start. Courses from Eckerson Group will also be available to existing customers for a fee. Alation Accelerate includes three courses:
Curating and Cataloging Data
Rethinking Data Governance
Enterprise Data Marketplace
“We are excited to partner with Alation, the foremost data catalog innovator, to provide this comprehensive enterprise data catalog training program,” said Eckerson. “Our consultants and researchers each have more than 20 years of experience and are uniquely qualified to help business and technical leaders succeed in data catalog deployments.”
