The Connector team is an integral part of Alation Engineering as it is responsible for developing a foundational framework that enables Alation and its partners to build Open Connector Framework (OCF) Connectors essential for Alation to connect to and extract metadata from various data sources that the customers want to catalog in Alation. This team is also responsible for providing a seamless User experience around connectivity. The Alation Connector team owns and manages 60+ connectors across different data source types (RDBMS, BI Sources, File Systems, NoSQL sources)

Connector teams are the core of the Alation platform and own data pipelines that integrate, extract, and ingest metadata. We are reimagining how we deliver connectivity on the Alation platform through new frameworks, re-designed modular pipelines, and partnerships to accelerate time to market at scale.


<li>Partner with your product managers and technical leads to initiate cross-functional collaboration with development teams throughout Alation to gather feedback and requirements.</li><li>Seek diverse perspectives to drive bottom-up innovation and create buy-in from all technical stakeholders inside and outside the team.</li><li>Develop, manage, and set the operational vision for OCF</li><li>Drive the short- and long-term direction for our OCF&nbsp; teams. <li>A Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent work experience</li><li>Previously managed a team of 5+ engineers with responsibility for systems in production as a tech lead or a manager for at least 2+ years</li><li>An expert technical understanding of the intersection of development, connectivity to data sources</li><li>You are a hands on technical leader of your team and understand all aspects of your team charter and deliverables</li><li>Knowledge of building applications in Java, Python, golang, and any front-end technologies and operationalising services in K8s is desirable.</li><li>Experience taking product and solution to production and supporting them</li><li>Collaboration skills and work with teams to maintain and identify requirements for improved&nbsp;</li><li>Previous experience as a tech lead architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services with a distributed backend</li><li>Experience providing technical mentorship and training to engineers building distributed systems</li><li>Experience managing multi-site teams and times zones is very desirable</li><li>Preferably, you have experience integrating systems with high throughput and have scaled systems in an Agile development environment</li><li>Passion for writing and delivering clean and well-tested code, participating in code reviews and always thinking about how to make products easy to support and maintain</li><li>Passion for elegance and simplicity</li><li>Pride in designing solutions that will outlive the problem.</li>

<li>Directly manage a team of Technical Support Engineers, guiding and prioritizing their work and ensuring the team has the appropriate tools and training to provide world-class support</li><li>Handle support escalations and assist with troubleshooting and triaging incidents&nbsp;</li><li>Manage and update the technical knowledge base</li><li>Ensure incoming chats, emails, tickets, and calls are handled with the highest level of quality and efficiency</li><li>Improve tools and processes to enable us to deliver support at scale&nbsp;</li><li>Develop and execute action plans that contribute to the team’s and company’s OKRs&nbsp;</li><li>Foster an environment of inclusion and diversity, reinforcing Alation core values and culture.</li>

<li>10+ years of enterprise software support experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a Technical Leadership role</li><li>Prior experience building, leading, and scaling a high-performance, cohesive technical support operation and leading teams of 8-10 people in a managerial role&nbsp;</li><li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Information Technologies&nbsp;</li><li>Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers in English</li><li>Exceptional analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills</li><li>System integration, Linux troubleshooting, and SQL experience are required</li><li>Understanding of application components and functionality; i.e., relational databases, NoSQL databases, web servers</li><li>Experience with SaaS, data management/BI products</li><li>Experience in Red Hat, Centos, and Ubuntu operating systems a plus</li><li>Experience with Python and Java is nice to have</li>
