Alation’s enterprise collaborative data platform empowers employees inside of data-driven enterprises to find, understand, and use the right data for better, faster business decisions. Alation combines the power of machine learning with human insight to automatically capture information about what the data describes, where the data comes from, who’s using it and how it’s used. Alation is based in sunny Redwood City and funded by Andreessen Horowitz, Bloomberg Beta, Costanoa Ventures, Data Collective, General Catalyst Partners, Harmony Partners, Icon Ventures, and Stanford StartX. Customers include Albertsons, eBay, Pfizer, Square, and some of the world’s largest finance firms.

Satyen Sangani CEO
Bio
Satyen is the CEO of Alation and a co-founder. In founding Alation, he aspired to help people dispassionately observe the world around them, empowering them to passionately work to improve it. Before Alation, Satyen spent nearly a decade at Oracle, where he ran the Financial Services Warehousing and Performance Management business. Prior to Oracle, Satyen was an associate with the private investment firm, Texas Pacific Group and an analyst with Morgan Stanley & Co. He holds a Masters in economics from the University of Oxford and a Bachelors from Columbia College.
Eric Brisson Chief Revenue Officer
Bio
Eric leads sales, customer success, services and support at Alation. Prior to Alation, Eric was a member of the iLog executive team managing the worldwide Sales and Services organization. From 1995 to 2010, he held a number of executive sales positions with iLog, growing it from pre-IPO to a $200m+ revenue public company. iLog was acquired in 2008 by IBM, where Eric spent two years. Since 2010, he has invested in start-ups in the US and France.
Venky Ganti CTO
Bio
Venky is CTO at Alation and a co-founder. A data enthusiast since graduate school, he has architected various data analysis products. At Google, he engineered several innovative data products which now generate over one billion dollars in yearly revenue. At Microsoft, he delivered advanced data quality infrastructure in ETL platforms. His career started in advanced data analysis and data mining technology in the PhD program at UW-Madison.
Stephanie McReynolds VP, Marketing
Bio
Stephanie leads marketing at Alation. With over 15 years of data infrastructure and application experience, she has a track record of bringing new technologies to market and into the hands of business analysts. Prior to Alation, she was instrumental in building the first marketing team at the self-service data preparation provider Trifacta. Before Trifacta, she held senior marketing and product management positions at Teradata, Aster Data and Oracle. Stephanie earned a Masters and Bachelors in international relations from Stanford University.
Max Ochoa Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel
Bio
Max is responsible for Alation’s finance, human resources, and legal departments. Prior to Alation, Max was general counsel, corporate secretary, and chief privacy officer for Turn Inc. Before Turn, Max was general counsel and vice president of human resources for the subsidiary of Cox Enterprises that acquired Adify in 2008, where Max was general counsel and corporate secretary. He holds an SB in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, an MS in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Michigan, and a JD from Stanford Law School. Max also serves on the Board of OneJustice, a California-wide social justice not-for-profit.
Madhu Talluri VP of Engineering
Bio
Madhu drives engineering for Alation. Coming to Alation from Microsoft, Madhu brings engineering discipline with his focus on innovation, release process and high quality code. At Microsoft he led the company’s Microsoft 360 partner program as group engineering manager and architect. Prior to Microsoft, Madhu was a distinguished engineer for over 9 years with Sun Microsystems. Madhu holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelors from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Matt Edwards VP of Customer Success
Bio
Matt leads customer success at Alation. With over 15 years experience in consulting, services and support, Matt knows how to ensure customer success. Prior to Alation, he drove customer success for WhiteHat Security. Before that he spent 8 years as COO and owner of InFour, a customer support services provider. At ShoreTel, Matt held global customer success, technical advisory and support manager roles. Matt’s entrepreneurial experience started young when he founded a consulting firm specializing in managed, proactive IT services. Matt holds a Bachelors in computer science from the University of Southern Maine.
