Michael Lempner, Head of Data: Data is the lifeblood of every aspect of what we do from acquiring and managing customers to managing risk and determining fraud. We have more than 100 data sources, including Redshift for our data warehouse, and we’re also starting to work to set up a data lake in S3.
Michael: We’re really trying to empower our business which means that data needs to be more usable and consumable. We’re trying to make data analytics less difficult, particularly trying to figure out what data exists and what the data is saying. Right now our users are spending 80% of their time gathering data and making sense out of it and only 20% generating the insights they need for the business. We’re looking to flip that ratio.

Michael: We are trying to make data much more usable and consumable by our business. Currently, working with data is one of the hardest parts of the job. Users have trouble figuring out what data exists and what the data is telling them. We are really starting to tap into the potential of how we can leverage Alation within LendUp. Alation is a great way for our users to not only explore and discover the information, but also use it and collaborate in a more efficient way to make decisions that impact the business. Alation is helping us understand the use cases we have and providing a more efficient way to get at the information we need.
